氢氧化镁的物化性质：无色立方柱晶体（固体）；氢氧化镁难溶于水和醇，易溶于稀酸和铵盐溶液，属中强碱。在水中的溶解度（18℃）为0.0009g/100g，碱性溶液中加热到200℃以上时生成六方晶体，350℃分解而成氧化镁和水。

Physical and chemical properties of magnesium hydroxide: Colorless cubic column crystal (solid); magnesium hydroxide is insoluble in water and alcohol, soluble in dilute acid and ammonium salt solution, featuring a medium strong base. The solubility in water (18°C) is 0.0009g/100g. When heated to more than 200°C in alkaline solution, it produces hexagonal crystals and decomposes into magnesium oxide and water at 350°C.

Product features: The synthetic magnesium hydroxide commonly used in the rubber industry is a kind of eco-friendly and green fire retardant with the triple functions of fire retardation, smoke suppression and filling. It has such characteristics as being free from halogen, flame retardant, low in smoke, non-toxic, drop resistant, carbon-forming, acid resistant, tasteless, good in stability, non-volatile, high in decomposing temperature, non-corrosive to equipment and so on. It is a material of the first choice for addition in organic macromolecular polymers. The endothermic decomposition temperature of it is higher than that of aluminum hydroxide and the indicators of it, including volume resistivity, dielectric strength, media loss factor, etc., are better than that of aluminum hydroxide in effect. The flame retardant of magnesium hydroxide can reduce the surface temperature in the flame by releasing binding water and absorbing a lot of heat during thermal decomposition, which can inhibit polymer decomposition and cool the combustible gas produced. The magnesium oxide produced in magnesium hydroxide decomposition is in turn a good refractory material, which can also help heighten the fire resistance and high-temperature resistance of synthetic materials, and the water vapor released can also serve as a kind of smoke inhibitor.
